One can expect that commercial off the shelf (COTS) software optimistically will solve 80% of a client’s needs. Sometimes it is cheaper to develop a software solution from scratch that meets 100% of a client’s needs than to try and modify a COTS software system to obtain that additional 20% that wasn’t met. We have built custom software for the insurance, construction, medical, real estate, and distribution industries. One of our custom software capabilities is based upon modifying and enhancing open source software (vtiger CRM, OpenEMR). Some of our custom software has been transitioned to commercial software products.
